CAPE GIRARDEAU, MO - Southeast Missouri State University will introduce its new men's basketball coach at a 3 p.m. news conference today at the Show Me Center in Cape Girardeau.

Finalists announced earlier this month were former Mississippi coach Rod Barnes, Tennessee assistant Scott Edgar (also a former assistant coach at Arkansas), and former Missouri assistant Jay Spoonhour.

The Southeast Missourian newspaper, citing sources close to Edgar, reports he will get the job.  Edgar was previously head coach at Duquesne and Murray State.

Spoonhour is the son of former St. Louis University coach Charlie Spoonhour and won a national junior college championship at Wabash Valley College in 2001.

Barnes was let go in March after eight seasons at Ole Miss.
