Jonesboro, AR -- Brandi Hodges Reports

Five New Restaurants Coming to Stadium Boulevard

April 14, 2006 -- Posted at 3:53 p.m. CST

JONESBORO, AR -- Jonesboro has been the center of economic growth in Northeast Arkansas for the past few years, and it looks like that trend is continuing.

You've probably noticed the construction underway all along Stadium Boulevard.  In addition to The Mall at Turtle Creek, there are multiple restaurants popping up.

“Love the location, good traffic, got new restaurants moving in next to us… it’s going to be a good location for us,” said Troy Russell, General Manager at Popeyes.

Popeyes is the first of the five new restaurants on Stadium to open its doors.

“We just opened up, and it’s going a little slow.  I think once people know we’re open and ready to roll, we’ll be pretty good here,” said Russell.

Another spot for chicken lovers is Zaxby's.

“In the past 16 years we have grown to 330 stores.  This is our second store in Arkansas,” said Zaxby’s Manager, Monica Martin.

Each of the five new restaurants offers something a little bit different.

“It’s going to be a good location, and I think we made a good decision by coming here,” said Martin.

While there are many reasons why this location is the hot spot, a few make the top of the list.

“The new mall was one of them, being close to A.S.U., and being closer to Paragould,” said Russell.

Right beside Popeyes are two other restaurants currently under construction.

“We’ve got Andy’s Frozen Custard to our right, two doors down we’ve got Hardee’s opening up,” said Russell.

Across the street, right in front of The Mall at Turtle Creek, is Chili's Grill and Bar.

“Everything’s going real well.  I’ve used mainly subs from Jonesboro and a few from Memphis.  Everybody’s been real cooperative, and we’re moving right along,” said Buddy White, Job Site Superintendent at Chili’s.

Construction at Chili’s should be completed by May 25th.

Chili’s will open in the next couple months, Zaxby's will open on May 1st, and Popeyes is already open.

Opening dates for Andy’s Frozen Custard and Hardee’s are unknown at this time.
