INDEPENDENCE, Mo. (AP) _ The couple who duped generous

Missourians into donating money for newborn sextuplets could now be

looking at time behind bars.

Charges of stealing by deceit were filed in Jackson County

yesterday against 45-year-old Sarah Everson and her 33-year-old

husband, Kris. Both are out on bond.

The charge accuses them of collecting 35-hundred dollars in cash

from people taken in by Sarah's account of giving birth last month

to six critically ill babies.

But Prosecutor Micheal Sanders believes there may have been

other donors who haven't yet come forward. Material goods,

including baby clothes, were also donated.

The couple admitted earlier this week they made up the story of

the sextuplets because they needed money to pay bills. A former

employer of Sarah Everson says the woman had also claimed in

December that she gave birth to quintuplets.
