Searcy Man Commands Large Army of Small Soldiers

April 16, 2006 - Posted at 12:30 p.m. CST

SEARCY, Ark. (AP) _ In Searcy, Steve Brown lives surrounded by

tiny warriors, tanks, and historical figures. Brown has a

collection of models and fantasy figures he has created over about

30 years. They number in the thousands. Many of his small figures

stand a little more than an inch high, and while some come in one

piece, others include up to 100 parts. Buttons for a coat may be

smaller than the head of a straight pin. Brown grew up on a farm

and he says he put together models of various types for

entertainment. He started doing tank models in the early 1970s

while he was in college and then found a group of guys who played

fantasy war games and began creating his own armies. It's a hobby

that he enjoys when he's not at his job as office manager at Brown

Neurology Clinic.
