FEMA Presence Increasing in Marmaduke

APRIL 17, 2006 - Posted at 1:25 p.m. CST

MARMADUKE, AR - The Federal Emergency Management Agency has moved more than a dozen mobile homes to Marmaduke, where they will house people who lost their homes in tornadoes two weeks ago.  Thousands of the homes are still stored unused at the Hope airport because of restrictions on where they can be placed.

Meanwhile, officials with the Paragould Cinema 8 have announced that the facility will host a "world premiere event" as a way to help tornado victims in Marmaduke.  Thursday night, the theater will host a "benefit world premiere of Think Tank," a comedy from the producers of Napolean Dynamite.  Fifty percent of ticket sales will go to benefit the citizens of Marmaduke, according to a press release.

"These are our neighbors, and with all the stress they are dealing with, we just felt like we were in a position to help out a little," said Bobby Wilson of Paragould Cinema 8.
