LITTLE ROCK, AR - The American Bankruptcy Institute says one of every 41 Arkansas households filed for bankruptcy last year. That's the sixth worst rate in the country.
The Virginia-based institute, which publishes research on bankruptcy, says one of every 60 U.S. households filed for bankruptcy in 2005. Indiana had the worst rate, with one in every 34 households filing.
There were 30,568 bankruptcies filed in Arkansas last year, the most ever filed in the state.
