MEMPHIS, TN - An apparent street race between two motorcyclists in Memphis killed one of the riders Wednesday night, and K8 News has learned that both men had Jonesboro ties.

Investigators on the scene say two bikers appeared to be street racing down Riverport Road around 10:45 p.m., when one driver "veered" his motorcycle onto the path of the other bike.  Police say the driver of the motorcycle that veered, 22-year-old Jeffrey L. Williams, was fatally injured and died at the scene.  Williams was from Marion, and was an Arkansas State University student living in Jonesboro.  Police say the driver of the other bike was critically injured and taken to The Med.  Police have not yet released his name, but he is believed to be from Jonesboro.

The incident is still under investigation.
