Little Rock on Pace to Break 1993 Record for Slayings

APRIL 24, 2006 - Posted at 8:14 a.m. CST

LITTLE ROCK, AR - Little Rock is on pace to break the record number of slayings set in 1993.

The latest killing was discovered yesterday afternoon, when officers were called to a house in central Little Rock where a man was found shot dead on a couch.  Police didn't release the victim's name, saying relatives hadn't been notified.

The homicide was the 22nd in Little Rock this year, which compares to nine through all of April last year.

If the killings continue at the same pace, the number will surpass the record 76 recorded in 1993.
