RUSSELLVILLE, Ark. (AP) _ Russellville city officials are
considering a proposed ban on pit bull terriers because the city
has gotten so many complaints about the animals.
Russellville animal control director Mike Vernon says the city
picked up 65 pit bulls last year and 25 so far this year.
He is proposing an amendment to the city's vicious dog ordinance
that would ban pit bulls from the city. Residents who already own
pit bulls could keep the dogs if they register the animals with the
city within 30 days of the passage of the ban.
