Woman Arrested, Allegedly Stole Tornado Relief Items

April 30, 2006 - Posted at 1:12 p.m. CST

MARMADUKE, Ark. (AP) _ A woman was arrested by Marmaduke

police on a theft charge for allegedly stocking up on canned goods and

other disaster relief items after claiming her home was destroyed

in the April Second tornado. Police say Melody Henn took donated

items on at least three occasions from Marmaduke High School or

Marmaduke City Hall. Police say the woman's rental house was not

damaged by the storm or at most had only two broken windows. Henn

has pleaded innocent to the charge. Marmaduke Police Chief Steve

Franks says his department has received several complaints from the

American Red Cross and the Federal Emergency Management Agency

about people making fraudulent claims of damage and loss.
