Marmaduke Police Make Another Arrest on Tornado Fraud-Related Charges

MAY 4, 2006 - Posted at 11:41 a.m. CST

MARMADUKE, AR - Marmaduke police have made another arrest in relation to fraudulent schemes associated with tornado relief projects in the storm-torn Greene County town.

According to police chief Steve Franks, 19-year-old Justin May was arrested yesterday on five counts of theft of property.  Franks says May allegedly went to the Crowley's Ridge Development Council and told them he was a victim of the April 2 Marmaduke tornado, and needed somewhere to stay.  The CRDC provided lodging for May at the Ramada Inn of Paragould, and gave him a $50 Wal-Mart gift card.  Franks says May was not a Marmaduke resident at the time of the tornado, but instead lived in Paragould.

May's court appearance is set for May 24.
