ASU Board Agrees to Work with Faculty on Handbook Changes

JONESBORO, AR - The Arkansas State University board has agreed to negotiate this summer with members of the school's Faculty Senate over changes in the university's faculty handbook.  A new handbook was approved by the board on February 24, but without direct input from the Faculty Senate.  Several Senate members said they hadn't known the handbook was to be considered by the board on that date.

Some members of the Senate object to language in the handbook dealing with the process of joint-decision making by the school's administration and its faculty.

At a board meeting yesterday, trustees said they would work with the faculty group over the summer to address their concerns.
