West Plains Air Ambulance Company Flies Injured Kentucky Teen to Prom

MAY 8, 2006 - Posted at 8:01 a.m. CST

OWENSBORO, KY - A southern Missouri-based air ambulance company helped a former patient get to her prom in style.

Almost eight months ago, an Air Evac Lifeteam crew took Nikki Kennedy of Owensboro, Kentucky, to a hospital.

The 17-year-old nearly died when the SUV she was riding in rolled several times.  Afterward, she spent two-and-a-half weeks in a coma.

This weekend, she was reunited with the paramedics who kept her alive.

The air ambulance company is based in West Plains, and it honors two or three patients a year.

She won a trip to her senior prom at Muhlenberg South High School in Kentucky in a Bell Long Ranger helicopter.
