ARI To Re-Open Marmaduke Plant in August

MAY 9, 2006 - Posted at 7:56 a.m. CST

MARMADUKE, AR - Officials of American Railcar Industries say they are planning to reopen their tornado-damaged plant at Marmaduke during August.

American Railcar's chief operating officer says about half of the 300 workers at the firm's Marmaduke plant are now working at a company plant in Paragould, about ten miles away.

Those workers will eventually return to jobs at the Marmaduke plant, which manufactures tank cars.

In addition to knocking out production, the April 2 storm rolled railroad cars at the Marmaduke plant onto their sides and pushed the cars away from the track.
