FORT SMITH, AR - Police in Fort Smith say they have a suspect in three slayings that occured thirty years ago.

Three women hitchhikers along Interstate-40 vanished, starting in 1975.  Police believe the suspect killed the women and buried them.

Police say a man who lived in Fort Smith and is now serving a life prison sentence in Nevada is suspected of being the killer.  He could brought back to Arkansas to face trial if investigators can build a case against him.

The victims were last seen near Forrest City, Memphis and Oklahoma City.

The killings occured between 1975 and 1977.
