SeMo Trooper Injured On-Duty in Car Accident

MAY 16, 2006 - Posted at 2:00 p.m. CST

CAPE GIRARDEAU, MO - A Missouri state trooper is recovering after surgery following a traffic accident near Cape Girardeau.

Jeremy Weadon broke his arm in the accident yesterday on Highway 74, one mile west of Interstate 55.  A woman in another car was hospitalized with minor injuries.

The Highway Patrol says a Dodge Dakota driven by 19-year-old Matthew Hinkle of Cape Girardeau crossed the center line and struck Henderson's car.  The collission caused Henderson's car to cross into the path of Weadon's patrol car.

The trooper is expected to be off the job for a couple of months.

No charges have been filed.
