Pryor Seeks Historic Status for Clinton Birth Home

LITTLE ROCK, AR - Senator Mark Pryor says Bill Clinton's birth home in Hope should be declared a historic landmark.  Pryor has asked the Senate Subcommittee on National Parks, Recreation and Public Lands to support legislation designating the home a national historic site in the national park system.

Pryor, like Clinton, is a Democrat.  But the plan to make the home a historic site has already enjoyed bipartisan support.  An identical bill sponsored by Congressman Mike Ross, also a Democrat, passed the House on a 409-12 vote in March.

Clinton's birthplace was renovated by a non-profit foundation and Clinton dedicated the building in 1999.  It is currently a museum open to the public.
