LITTLE ROCK, AR - A nonprofit foundation that helps monitor Medicare and Medicaid treatment in Arkansas has been asked by a U.S. Senate committee for information about its finances.
The information is being sought from the Arkansas Foundation for Medical Care as part of a look by the Senate Finance Committee into the finances and effectiveness of more than 50 similar agencies in the country.
The committee sent a letter to the Arkansas Foundation April 4 seeking any information on the use of corporate apartments, business contracts with foundation employee family members, and the financial interests of the foundation's chief executive officer.
The foundation had an $18 million annual budget in 2004.
