Union Pacific Continues Investigation of Paragould Derailment, Fire

PARAGOULD, AR - Union Pacific Railroad is working to determine what caused 13 rail cars to go off the track in Paragould last weekend.

The cars left the track Sunday evening, and one car containing bundles of paper caught fire early Monday morning.  Officials say they don't know how the paper caught fire.

The railroad says the cars derailed after they were switched to a side track.

Aside from the car hauling paper, the railroad says three cars were loaded with auto parts and the rest were empty.

The track has since re-opened.
