Child Killed in Late-Night Wreck in North Jonesboro

JONESBORO, AR - A late Wednesday night car accident has left one child dead and two other people injured.

Police say the driver of the vehicle was southbound on Arkansas 141, and appeared to have lost control of the car before hitting an electrical pole and plowing through the fence of a nearby commercial garage.

One person was reportedly airlifted to a Memphis hospital, while another was taken to a Jonesboro hospital.  A child identified as 3-year-old Caleb Garner of Jonesboro was killed in the accident.

The other victims are identified as 27-year-old Kimberly Mitchell of Jonesboro, and 26-year-old Victoria Mitchell of Bono.  Kimberly Mitchell was airlifted to The Med in Memphis.  She is believed to be the mother of Caleb Garner.  Victoria Mitchell was transported by ambulance to St. Bernard's Medical Center.

The accident occured at approximately 11:15 p.m.

The accident remains under investigation by the Jonesboro Police Department, and it is possible that charges may be filed.
