ASU, U.S.P.S. Reach Temporary Agreement on On-Campus Post Office

JUNE 1, 2006 - Posted at 4:31 p.m. CST

JONESBORO, AR - Arkansas State University officials have announced that an agreement has been reached between the university and the U.S. Postal Service.

ASU's Division of Finance & Administration announced today that the U.S.P.S. signed a lease extension to remain on-campus in its existing facility until June 30, 2007.  The original lease expiration date was set for October 31 of this year.

ASU officials say the the extension "allows for a more seamless transition between the spring and fall semesters, as opposed to having postal service disrupted in the middle of the fall 2005 semester."  ASU officials say they are still hopeful of having a permanent postal facility in the newly-renovated Reng Student Services Center.
