Independence Prosecutor Says No Indication of More Victims

JUNE 2, 2006 - Posted at 7:47 a.m. CST

INDEPENDENCE, MO - Newly released documents in the case of an Independence couple charged with rape and murder indicate the two told police they killed a second woman.

Jackson County Prosecutor Mike Sanders says investigators continue receiving numerous tips, but so far there's no indication of any additional victims.

Richard Davis and Dena Riley were arrested last week after crashing a pickup truck in rural southwest Missouri.  The pair were wanted in the May 14 death of 41-year-old Marsha Spicer, who was shown on videotape being sexually tortured.

Police documents say Davis and Riley both admitted also taking part in the death of 36-year-old Michelle Ricci.  Her burned remains were found Saturday in Clay County, just north of Kansas City.

A 5-year-old southeast Kansas girl described as a niece of Davis was with the pair when they were caught.  Authorities now say the girl, from the Pittsburg area, had injuries consistent with sexual abuse.
