Marmaduke Still Clearing a Path to Future Two Months After Tornado

JUNE 5, 2006 - Posted at 2:46 p.m. CST

MARMADUKE, AR - The Greene County city of Marmaduke is still clearing rubble two months after a tornado ripped through the community in Greene County.

Crews removing debris are still at work, putting in 12-hour shifts for six days a week.  Removal is to continue for about two more weeks.

A water tower is among structures that were made unsafe by the storm and it is to be torn down.  The local school, which is now out for the summer, is being repaired.  And the city is waiting for insurance money to cover repairs to a community center.

The city has issued 17 permits for storm-destroyed homes to be re-built.
