Emerson Lauded by Delta Grassroots Caucus

JUNE 5, 2006 - Posted at 4:29 p.m. CST

JONESBORO, AR - The Mississippi Delta Grassroots Caucus issued a statement today commending southeast Missouri Congresswoman Jo Ann Emerson (R) and south Arkansas Congressman Mike Ross (D) for working in a bi-partisan effort to officially form the House Mississippi River Delta Caucus in order to get all members of Congress more actively engaged in promoting economic development in Missouri and throughout the eight-state Delta region.

Today the Caucus had the first discussions with Emerson's staff about how they can move forward with their Congressional counterparts in working for the region's economic growth.

Lee Powell, Caucus Director, praised Emerson's leadership in officially forming the Congressional Member organization, saying "Representative Emerson is highly regarded throughout the Delta region by people from both parties, and she worked in an effective, bi-partisan way with Rep. Harold Ford (D-Tennessee) and Rep. Mike Ross in forming the House Mississippi River Delta Caucus, which will be very helpful in working with our grassroots coalition in the region from southeast Missouri and southern Illinois all the way down to New Orleans."
