Probe of Entergy's Practices Requested by Arkansas Regulators

JUNE 8, 2006 - Posted at 8:23 a.m. CST

LITTLE ROCK, AR - A federal investigation of Entergy business practices is being sought as a way to reduce, or eliminate, the impact in Arkansas of a multi-state rate equalization plan that would increase costs for the state's customers.

The Arkansas Public Service Commission filed the complaint yesterday with the Federal Energy Regulatory Commission.  The filing asks FERC to investigate Entergy business practices.  The request follows an order by the Federal Energy Regulatory Commission for Entergy to adopt a multi-state rate-equalization plan that would increase costs for Arkansas consumers.

The filing asks FERC to require Entergy to lower its system-production costs to avoid an increase in rates in Arkansas.  The company is the largest supplier of electricity in this state.
