Bootheel Authorities Investigating Death of Woman Found in Field

CARUTHERSVILLLE, MO - Authorities in southeast Missouri are investigating the mysterious death of a woman whose body was found in a field just outside of Steele on Friday.

According to the Pemiscot County Sheriff's Department, an autopsy was performed yesterday on the victim by pathologists at the Mineral Area Hospital in Farmington, Missouri, and results show no indications of gun shot wounds, stabbing, blunt trauma or strangulation.  However, toxicology reports are not yet completed, and the sheriff's department and officers with the Highway Patrol's Drug and Crime Control Division.

The woman's identity has not yet been determined, she is described only as a black female.  Anyone with information about the woman or what may have happened to her is urged to contact the Pemiscot County Sheriff's Department at 573-333-4101.
