PARAGOULD, AR - Police in Paragould and the Arkansas State Police are jointly investigating a two-car accident in Paragould last night which left two children dead.

According to detective Ken Jackson of the PPD, the accident occured at approximately 5:30 p.m.  when an eastbound SUV collided with another vehicle at the intersection of East Vine and South Third streets.  The children were passengers in the SUV, which spun out of control and struck a telephone pole.  Jackson said one of the victims was killed at the scene, while the other was being airlifted to LeBonheur Children's Hospital in Memphis, but died while enroute.  The fatalities are identified by The Associated Press as nine-month-old Taylar W. Russell and 3-year-old Dustin D. Russell.  The AP also identifies 27-year-old Tammie Russell as the driver of the SUV.  According to the AP, Tammie Russell was injured in the accident, as were two other girls, ages six and seven.

Authorities were back at the accident site this morning as their investigation continued, and Jackson said charges may be filed in the case.
