LITTLE ROCK, AR - The Delta Regional Authority has set a June 22 meeting to discuss the possibility of building a four-lane highway corridor connecting Interstate-55 in Batesville, Mississippi, with Interstate 40 at Brinkley in eastern Arkansas.
The meeting will be held in downtown Clarkesdale, Mississippi.
Officials with the Delta Regional Authority say that the Memphis metropolitan area has become a large distribution center, and that a new connecter would help ease traffic in the city. The connecter, which would add a bridge over the Mississippi River at Helena-West Helena, could also bring more visitors to eastern Arkansas.
