Independent in Arkansas Governor's Race to be on Fall Ballot

JUNE 26, 2006 - Posted at 4:42 p.m. CST

LITTLE ROCK, AR - The Arkansas Secretary of State's office says independent candidate Rod Bryan has submitted enough signatures to be on the general election fall ballot.

Rod Bryan submitted nearly 12,000 signatures to qualify for the November 7 ballot.  He needed 10,000 signatures of certified registered voters to get his name on the ballot.

Bryan is an advocate of the environment, and he says he'd push for more "eco-friendly" action from the government.  He has used his bicycle to get to campaign events.

Bryan will be on the ballot with Democrat Mike Beebe and Republican Asa Hutchinson.  Bryan says he will appeal to voters dissatisfied with the choice between major party candidates.
