JPD Investigating Early-Morning Stabbing

JONESBORO, AR - Jonesboro police officers were dispatched to the NEA Medical Center emergency room shortly after 2 a.m. this morning to investigate an apparent stabbing incident.

Police say 21-year-old Terry Pittman was taken to the hospital, suffering from multiple stab wounds to the chest and legs following an altercation at 3412 Sun Avenue, shortly before 2 a.m.  Police say the altercation occured near the entrance of Bel Aire apartments.

Following investigation that included interviews with witnesses at the scene, police arrested 29-year-old Gregory Scruggs at approximately 9:15 this morning as a suspect in the case.  Police say Scruggs was also wanted on an outstanding warrant.

Pittman remains hospitalized in the intensive care unit at NEA Medical Center.
