State to Put Ads in Vehicle Renewal Notices

JUNE 29, 2006 - Posted at 8:09 a.m. CST

JEFFERSON CITY, Mo. (AP) - Missouri residents are now getting a

little extra in their notices to renew their vehicle registrations.

The Department of Revenue is including advertisements in the

renewal notices it mails out for vehicle registrations. It's part

of the department's efforts to save money.

The ads are part of a new contract with a suburban Boston

company called Imagitas.

Last year, the department started mailing renewal notices on

postcards to save money.

But department spokesman Maura Browning says some people

complained about the loss of privacy.

She says the new approach will restore privacy by sticking the

renewal notice and ads in an envelope. And it is expected to be a

little cheaper than the postcards.
