JUNE 29, 2006 - Posted at 12:55 p.m. CST

LITTLE ROCK, AR - An Education Department panel today approved $265 million in improvements to public school facilities in Arkansas.  Included in the 1,130 projects will be new schools in Batesville, Marion and Trumann.

The money will be distributed over the next three years.

The projects were tentatively approved in May.

Half of the projects cost less than $20,000, though the largest project will be $11.5 million for a new junior high school in Marion.  The Public Schools Academic Facilities and Transportation Commission also approved nearly $10 million for a new high school complex in Trumann.
