LITTLE ROCK, AR - The state Public Service Commission says Entergy Arkansas can always be ordered to refund a rate hike the PSC approved this week if it turns out not to be merited. In its formal order yesterday, the commission said it approved the 9.9 percent increase because it is likely to avoid a larger hike later.
Entergy says the increase will be $9.27 per month for the typical residential customer. The increase went into effect yesterday, the first day of the utility's next billing cycle.
In its order, the commission said it approved the increase because it would help consumers by avoiding additional carryover charges.
