Police Standoff Ends when Poplar Bluff Man Faints

POPLAR BLUFF, MO - A Poplar Bluff man is in custody in Cape Girardeau after a standoff with police that ended when the main fainted.

Everett Way, 46, faces felony charges of unlawful use of a weapon.  No one was hurt in the incident that happened yesterday morning in Cape Girardeau.

Police received a call that the man was drunk, armed and suicidal, with a gun to his head, at his girlfriend's home.

Several officers surrounded the home.  When an officer called inside, the girlfriend said she believed Way was about to pass out.  She came out a short time later with the gun and told officers Way had fainted.

He was found passed out on the living room floor.
