Region 8 Farmers Get Rain on 4th, Hoping for More

JULY 5, 2006 - Posted at 7:28 a.m. CST

JONESBORO, AR - East Arkansas farmers are hoping for a rainy stretch because having to run pumps to irrigate is expensive.

Rain fell on the 4th of July in some places in Region 8, and is expected in much of the area today.  K8 Forecaster Chris Castleman says rain is currently falling this morning in most of Crittenden and St. Francis counties, as well as in a small isolated area south of Pocahontas.

Meanwhile, growers say they could use a significant rain to save work and to save money.
