Governor, Wife Buy Home in North Little Rock

JULY 6, 2006 - Posted at 7:46 a.m. CDT

NORTH LITTLE ROCK, AR - Governor Mike Huckabee and his wife are buying a $525,000 house in North Little Rock to serve as their home after they move from the Governor's Mansion in January.

The nearly 7,000-square-foot tri-level house in the Shady Valley subdivision sits on a one-acre lot.  The house has a swimming pool and five-and-a-half bathrooms.

The governor says he used royalties from his book, "Quit Digging Your Grave with a Knife and Fork," for the downpayment and to a bank loan to buy the house.

Huckabee is also selling a house on Lake Greeson in Pike County.  He bought the house for $151,000 in 1998 and it is on the market for $380,000.
