Greene County, AR--Bob Snell Reports

Offbeat: Animal Sanctuary

July 10, 2006--Posted at 10:30 a.m.  CDT

GREENE COUNTY, AR-- You might call John Miller the Dr. Doolittle of Region 8, because he talks to the animals, and has more than 125 of them on his property.

About 15 years ago John started taking in strays and taking care of them.  Over the years he's had 100's of animals on his place and says he wouldn't have it any other way.   John's got peacocks, turkeys, ducks, geese, guineas, dogs, cats, horses, donkeys, chickens, roosters, pigs and anything else that wanders up or is dropped off for him to take care of.

John is a carpenter by trade, but spends another 25-30 hours a week feeding and taking care of his zoo.  He says he's always loved animals and just thinks there need to be a place kids can get a hands on taste of the wild.
