PARAGOULD, AR - The Paragould City Beautiful Commission said today it hasn't received any bids on two crypts at the Linwood Cemetery. But officials say interested buyers are exploring the purchase of the decades-old mausoleum.
The commission is auctioning off the crypts at the mausoleum to raise money to beautify the local landmark. Legendary gangster Frank "Jelly" Nash is buried there, along with other local notables.
The commission is to hold an open house tonight for interested bidders. Organizers expect crypts to sell for between $3,000 and $10,000.
The mausoleum was constructed in the 1920s, at a cost of $30,000. The commission is trying to have the structure listed on the National Register of Historic Places.
