Natural Gas Company Latest Arkansas Utility to Seek a Rate Hike

LITTLE ROCK (AP) - Arkansas Western Gas Company has filed notice

with state regulators that the company plans to ask for another

rate change no later than mid-October. A rate case involving the

company already is pending in the state Court of Appeals. Arkansas

Western serves 145-thousand customers in northwest and northeast

Arkansas. It last filed for a rate change in December 2004, seeking

a nine million 700 thousand dollar a year increase. State

regulators approved a lower rate, putting the increase at four

million 600 thousand dollars a year. And increasing some commercial

bills by as much as 14-point-eight percent. The state attorney
