Paragould's Emerson Plant Prepares to Observe 50-Year Anniversary

JULY 21, 2006 - Posted at 1:23 p.m. CDT

PARAGOULD, AR - Emerson Appliance Motors will celebrate the 50th anniversary of its Paragould plant on Saturday, July 29.

"You won't find many companies today who can celebrate a half-century anniversary for a manufacturing facility," said plant manager Derwood Biles.  "Our people at Paragould take enormous pride in reaching this milestone, and are extremely proud to be part of Emerson and its success."

The Paragould facility at 1000 South 2nd Avenue was formally dedicated December 10, 1956, just 18 months after Paragould officials were approached by Emerson to provide a building to house its first branch plant.  The company currently employs approximately 1,200 workers at the Paragould facility.

On July 29, the plant will host an open house from 2 p.m. to 5 p.m. for all current and retired employees to tour with their families.
