LITTLE ROCK, AR - Arkansans who have no health insurance can begin signing up for help with their prescription drug bills through a new state program.
The initial sign-up begins August 1. State health officials plan to get the word out through a public awareness campaign. About 100,000 brochures will be handed out by doctors and pharmacists.
The program is called Arkansas Rx. Through it, the state negotiates with drug companies for rebates on medicines for uninsured Arkansans. The amount of the rebates will depend on the number of people who sign up. The discounts likely won't be available to participants until the beginning of next year.
