Survey Shows McDaniel with Significant Lead in AG's Race

JULY 26, 2006 - Posted at 9:07 a.m. CDT

LITTLE ROCK, AR - A new telephone poll shows Democrat Dustin McDaniel of Jonesboro leading Republican Gunner DeLay of Fort Smith in the race for state attorney general.

McDaniel got 50 percent support and DeLay 35 percent in the Survey USA poll of 509 Arkansans.  Fourteen percent of those polled were undecided.

McDaniel says the poll numbers show voters are responding to the issues he's raised.  But DeLay says the results are good news for him because his campaign hasn't yet spent any money on paid media advertising.

The poll was conducted July 14 and 16 for Little Rock's KTHV television station and had a margin of error of 4.4 percentage points.
