LITTLE ROCK, AR - A top federal official will discuss plans for a possible flu pandemic with Arkansas health officials tomorrow.
Assistant Secretary of Health John Agwunobi is to meet with state public health officials on Arkansas' efforts before he addresses the state Board of Health. Last year, President Bush instructed federal health officials to bring state and local public officials together to discuss preparations for a possible pandemic.
And Governor Huckabee has directed the Arkansas Department of Health and Human Services to make preparations. Arkansas officials plan to have antiviral medications in place by March of next year. They intend to have enough anti-flu medication for roughly 600,000 people.
