ST. LOUIS, MO - The power outage is nearly over from last week's severe storm in the St. Louis region, but the number of weather-related deaths has now reached nine.
Authorities say that number includes two people who died when their homes lost power after two storms rocked the region last week. In a news conference yesterday, Mayor Francis Slay said "our worst fears have come to pass."
All three of the latest city heat deaths were men who lived alone. Television reporters say one man was 49 and had power, but did not have air conditioners plugged in. The other two were ages 56 and 78. Their names were not released.
