LITTLE ROCK, AR - A top federal official says Arkansas is ahead of other states in preparing for a possible flu pandemic.
U.S. Assistant Secretary for Health John Agwunobi briefed Arkansas health officials today on preparation for pandemic flu. He met with the Arkansas Board of Health and told members the state is ahead in its partnerships and preparation for a possible pandemic. The greatest concerns he has nationally regarding a flu pandemic is the production of a vaccine and the capability of healthcare workers and hospitals to handle a large number of sick people should an outbreak occur.
