Forecasters: Brace for More Oppressive Heat

JULY 31, 2006 - Posted at 4:30 p.m. CDT

LITTLE ROCK, AR - Weather forecasters say Arkansans should prepare for another week of near 100-degree temperatures.

By mid-afternoon, most areas in the state were recording temperatures in the mid-90s.  Monticello in southeastern Arkansas was the only town recording 100 degrees.  But Batesville, Fort Smith, Jonesboro, Russellville and West Memphis all saw heat indices pass the century mark.

The National Weather Service issued a heat advisory for the state through tomorrow.  And no rain was in the forecast.
