LITTLE ROCK, AR - EDS, a Medicaid services company that has handled patient and provider services for the BreastCare program in Arkansas for seven years, has a new contract for the work.  EDS announced yesterday that the $12.7 million contract is for a year, but with six one-year options.

Administered by the Division of Health in the Arkansas Department of Health and Human Services, the BreastCare program provides breast and cervical cancer screenings, diagnosis and treatment for low-income women across the state.  EDS, based at Plano, Texas, acts as a gatekeeper for women enrolled in the program and processes the claims for providers.

The original contract, which EDS has held since 1999, was scheduled to have expired on June 30.
