Jo Ann Emerson Reveals Plans for 11th Annual Picnic

AUGUST 2, 2006 - Posted at 2:16 p.m. CDT

CAPE GIRARDEAU, MO - Southeast Missouri Congresswoman Jo Ann Emerson says Senator John Thune of South Dakota will be the special guest at her 11th Annual Old-Fashioned Family Picnic on August 12, in Cape Girardeau.

"This year's picnic is going to be very special.  Not only will we hear from Missouri's own Senator Talent, but my good friend from South Dakota, Senator John Thune, will be there as well.  This year's election is extremely important and I think people will enjoy seeing and hearing from our statewide candidates who will be in attendance as well as Senator Thune," said Emerson.

Besides Talent and Thune, other potential guests include State Treasurer Sarah Steelman and Lieutenant Governor Peter Kinder.

Doors will open at 5 p.m. and dinner will be served at 5:30 at the A.C. Brase Arena at 410 Kiwanis Drive in Cape Girardeau.  Tickets for the event are $15, while children 10 and under will be allowed to eat free.  More information is available by calling 573-335-0033.
