Heat Advisory in Effect Today for Three Region 8 Counties

MEMPHIS, TN - A heat advisory is in effect today in five counties in eastern Arkansas, including three in Region 8.  The National Weather Service says high temperatures are to persist across Arkansas.

The counties under the heat advisory include Crittenden, Cross and St. Francis in Region 8, as well as Lee and Phillips counties.

The weather services advises that some thunderstorms are possible today, and some storms could become severe.

Forecasters also say there is no break from the heat seen for the next few days.

Three deaths in Arkansas have been blamed on the heat.
