Little Rock Homicide Count Continues to Rise

AUGUST 9, 2006 - Posted at 7:51 a.m. CDT

LITTLE ROCK, AR - Police say Little Rock's 41st and 42nd homicide happened yesterday morning after two men got into an argument and then shot each other to death.

The double homicide pushes the capital city's 2006 homicide total to 42, one more than the number recorded in all of 2005.

Police say Kendric Lamar Griffis staggered about 200 yards after being shot in the back, and told police before he died that he'd been robbed.  Yesterday was Griffis' 23rd birthday.  Davi A. Bullock, 22, was found shot to death at the same time.

North Little Rock police also reported a homicide Tuesday morning.  The body of Roderick Thomas was found near the intersection of 23rd and Railroad streets about 1:30 a.m.
